Beauty

Have you ever gone out without makeup and you just don’t feel well? I completely believe that when you look your best, you feel your best. Makeup is a girl’s best friend when you wake up with that big, unsightly zit in the middle of your forehead. Dab on some concealer, and you’re on your way. I’ve learned a lot about makeup and what works best for me while in college. Here are some things I’ve learned.

Take care of your skin. The better shape your skin is in, the less makeup you will need. But keep in mind that less is more. Don’t over saturate your face with a million products. Get the basics; a good cleanser, toner, and moisturizer is all you should need, and you don’t have to use all three every day.

Foundation. This is one product that you may want to spend more on. My advice is go to a department store and have them help you choose one that matches your skin. My personal favorite is Clinique Superfit Liquid foundation. It blends really well.

Mascara. It makes a world of difference and really changes the way you look. You want to make your eyes pop, and lashes are the biggest way to achieve this effect because they frame your eyes. I like Maybelline’s Colossal Volume Express. It’s affordable and works well. Curl, curl, curl your lashes! It makes a difference.

Eye shadows are a fun way to switch things up. You definitely want to vary your shadows from day to night. I don’t usually wear it during the day at all, but at night I like the Smokey eye look. Go on Youtube and search for tips. You can learn almost anything on there these days.

Lips. Just use a nice gloss that you like. Don’t use chapstick everyday of your life! I have noticed that my friends who use it too much lips are always chapped. This is because chapstick can actually dry out your lips if you use it too much. Your lips will stop producing its own moisture if you use it too much.

Bronzer. It’s a great way to add some color to your skin and give you a healthy glow. Just make sure you don’t get one with shimmer in it. It just makes your face look extra shiny.

Love Yourself

It sounds corny and easy to do, but so many girls don’t do it. It takes time. In high school I remember thinking how I wasn’t good enough, smart enough or pretty enough. I don’t exactly remember the moment when everything changed for me, but you do feel different. Loving yourself makes you so much more confident, and you feel like “yeah I can do this.”

My friend Alexa is a philosophy major, and she was recently telling me how they learned that good self-esteem comes from having a good support system. I think that’s so is important. My group of friends and always talk about how we’re so obsessed with each, other but  really we just support one another. We talk each other up all the time. It helps when someone believes in you. If you have that one toxic friend who is always bringing you down, get rid of them.

Love yourself! I believe that you should be your #1 fan. It may sound a bit narcissistic but, if you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect someone else to?
